Another great sourdough workshop

We held our second last Simple Living Toowoomba workshop for the year today and once again Chris from Gully Grove presented a very interesting and informative sourdough workshop. Chris made her Honey and Sunflower Loaf which featured in a recent blog post.

Macadamia Soap

I wasn't terribly happy with my last batch of soap in which I used madder root for the first time so I thought I would try another new to me recipe using macadamia oil which I hadn't used before. I knew there was rain on the way but didn't realise we would have 99% humidity for days on end which isn't good for soapmaking so thankfully I had decided to only make a small batch.

What a great swap package!

On The Home Maker's Forum we are currently having our Christmas swap. This was always a very popular swap on the now closed Down to Earth Forum and it is always fascinating to see the variety of swap items that are exchanged across the country and even overseas. My swap partner was, unlike me, very organised and posted my parcel the same day the swap partners were announced :-) Well, wasn't I absolutely gobsmacked when I opened it to find this beautiful patchwork bag!!!

A Timely Reminder

We lost power last night and for some reason this often happens to our suburb but not neighbouring ones where the lights are brightly shining while we are in darkness. A storm wasn't the culprit and we have no idea what was the cause but it was a timely reminder that we need to get ready for storm season here in Queensland which gets somewhat battered during summer.

A great event to visit ~ Lost Trades Fair

This weekend the Cobb and Co Museum in Toowoomba is the venue for the Lost Trades Fair and I believe it is the first time the Fair has been held interstate. I was in the long queue at the door when it opened this morning and I can assure you it is well worth visiting if it is ever in your region. For those who live in our area it is still on tomorrow (8th October) and I can guarantee that you will thoroughly enjoy seeing all the craftsmen and women at work.
